About evil in our age…
Matthew 2:16 When Herod realized that
he had been outwitted by the Magi, he was furious, and he gave orders to
kill all the boys in Bethlehem and its vicinity who were two years old
and under, in accordance with the time he had learned from the Magi.
We live in a world of madmen. Our most
recent madman of note is Osama Bin Laden. There have been others in
recent history like Hitler, Pol Pot, Stalin, et al. In a clean and
sterile world where everyone has repented, there would be no evil
madness. Perhaps when you read this, the world will have repented, but
if Christ has not returned…probably not. Christ came into the world in
humble beginnings to save us from being snatched by evil and pulled into
the fires of hell and/or being pulled into the torment of outer
darkness. The warm glow of Christmas, in His reality of two thousand
years ago, and our reality today, is that the warm glow exists only if
we come close to Him. It is most appropriate that Christ was born as a
normal person is born, for some of us do wish to hold Him as a baby. We
must hold Him. We must hold Him close. We must cuddle Him. We must
cradle Him in our arms and we must protect His love for there is a Herod
in every age until the end of the age.
