Inauguration Day...A New America
With a devout Christian in the White House, rather than a perilous
future, we could see a future of untold progress, promise, and hope. The
blessings of God can pour out over our nation and world. A whole
generation or two can witness the strength and power of Christ in our
nation's leaders. This kind of visible spiritual strength by our
President and his family could set hearts aflame with the love of
Christ. We have not had visible Christian leaders in Washington, D.C.
for eight years. From 1980 to 1992, we had patriotic and conservative
leaders in the White House who paid homage to the Christian faith and to
Christ. Our country is overdue for revival. Our country needs a
spiritual revival that begins in the White House. As a nation, we have
slacked off in every moral and ethical sense. With much prayer and
supplication for our country, the Lord can work through our leaders and
bring new hope, new vision, and new spiritual life to our land.
The power of prayer and belief is a resource that can demolish the
ever-present looming darkness and evil. God is our mighty fortress.
Human hearts in America are now crying for spiritual food and these
hearts can be shown the gospel in real life ways that send a clear and
renewing message about the love of God through Christ.
There is always a hope-filled and positive future in our faith. What
each of us must do is find our own personal ministry and dedicate our
lives to that cause. If enough persons pray and fast for the future of
our nation then great things can happen. This does not mean adversity
will not come to our land. What the acts of prayer and fasting do is
give us a chance to turn every adversity and every foe inside out.
Prayer, fasting, and a commitment to doing the will of God helps each of
us turn the darkness on its head. Each of us can shine the light of
Christ's love into the hearts of every person we know. We can all pass
along the message of hope, redemption, and magnificent purpose we find
in being a true child of God.
We do not relish adversity, yet with our hearts in the nail-scarred
hands of the Savior, we know that adversity brings with it great
opportunity to proclaim His love. The Christian faith in our nation has
been tested by the creeping darkness of moral decay and ethical rot. If,
indeed, the faith is confronted with all out assaults by the powers of
evil, then the members of the faith have an opportunity to witness about
Christ's power that few generations have known. No matter what attacks
might be brought against our nation the church will never fade away.
Matthew 16:18 And I say also unto thee, That thou art Peter, and upon
this rock I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not
prevail against it. (KJV)
Mark 11:24 Therefore I say unto you, What things soever ye desire,
when ye pray, believe that ye receive them, and ye shall have them. (KJV)
Indeed, we have a God that answers prayer. We have a God that listens
to our pleas and petitions. As we move our nation to a point of revival,
our nation stands tall in the eyes of God. Our peril could evaporate
into the air if we return to Almighty God. There is no evil we cannot
defeat if we bring about our long needed revival in every family and in
every neighborhood.
There is no economic force that can take us down if we hold fast to
the laws of God. Our mighty God will show us His strength and protection
if we are obedient to Christ's command to love one another. We must not
hold back. We must not withdraw our hearts from the battle for the
battle has already begun. Our faith will stand the test of any evil if
we will just trust in God and trust in Christ to supply us with the
spiritual energy and truth for which we daily starve. A nation of
contrite hearts that seek our Lord on bent knee can change our nation
and change the world.
Luke 12:32 Fear not, little flock; for it is your Father's good
pleasure to give you the kingdom. (KJV)
Each of us can stand shoulder to shoulder in the face of every
enemy. We own not just our nation, but a greater kingdom…the kingdom
of God. Within each of us, there is every spiritual treasure in the
universe.
Matthew 6:20 But lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where
neither moth nor rust doth corrupt, and where thieves do not break
through nor steal: (KJV)
Our land stands on the brink of its greatest promise. The progress we
have made in the last one hundred years in science and technology,
infrastructure development, race relations, energy use and production,
and communications is unrivaled in human history. The whole world has
been transformed by what we, as a nation, have accomplished. Greater
developments await us. There are greater opportunities ahead of us to
solve age-old problems. We have present day opportunities to develop new
solutions to the many obstacles that will hinder our growth. Our
progress as a nation depends not so much upon technological innovation
but upon the birth, rebirth, and renewal of Christ's love in the heart
of our populace. If we witness a genuine rebirth of God's love and
Spirit in our nation, our potential to transform our society has no
limits. In this new land, in this new America, generosity will replace
greed, repentance will replace crime, and righteousness will replace
unrighteousness. In this new America, brotherly love will replace lust,
healing will replace hurt, confession will replace contempt, and every
citizen will honor his fellow citizen as a true child of God. In this
new America, where there is waste there will be conservation, where
there is lack of opportunity there will be hope, where there is
ignorance there will be education and wisdom. Where there are lies there
will be honesty, where there is selfishness there will be unselfishness.
We have, at this moment, an unprecedented opportunity to do the work of
our God, and make His kingdom come alive on earth.
God has a plan and a will for our nation just as He has a plan and a
will for each of us as individuals. God's will for our nation is that as
a people, regardless of our race, our culture, our upbringing, or our
present circumstance that we should all live in harmony and peace by
loving Him. The will of the Father is not a far off or fuzzy vision that
cannot be realized. This will of God is a present reality waiting to
happen. It is incumbent upon each of us to grasp this moment. It is
critical for the future of our world that each of us would come to the
Cross of Christ in humility and ask for His forgiveness for our sins.
Our nation's transformation depends upon the transformation of its
citizens. Economic poverty can be erased by human work and will, but the
poverty of the soul can be erased only by God. Racial strife can be put
aside by willful thought and intentional acts, but the bigotry that is
the seed of racial strife can be erased only by the loving hand of
Christ.
Whether we believe these things will happen is not so important as
our immediate passion to make them happen. With a passion and commitment
to make our land a God fearing nation it can be so. With a will and a
contrite heart to shelve our treasured vices, a victory over the dark
forces that steal lives can be won. With the godly sorrow borne of our
visit to the Cross, we can see all things made new, through Christ.
