On The Attack Upon The USA
Sometimes we
have trouble making sense of the way things work in the world. Evil and
darkness come into our lives and we are left stunned. Today the
terrorist attacks against the United States is a prime example of evil.
In our humanity, we want revenge. In our spirits, we must try to find
God, who is love. Our nation is stunned and in shock. We see the horror
of evil on television news reports. On a personal level, my wife works
with someone who has a brother working out of the World Trade Center. We
do not know of this person's status. (Since the original post, we
learned he was not at the WTC on the day of the attack.)
In our humanity, we
want revenge. We want to get even. If we get our revenge and even the
score, there will no doubt be an escalation of terror both here and
abroad. What will we do? We will probably make efforts at getting even
and taking out those who are responsible. What should we do? We should
pray, express our love for God, and express our love for each other. We
should pray for wisdom and strength for our national leaders. We should
try to find the love of God in the middle of this madness.
Unfortunately, it is at this point in our lives and in the life of our
nation that what we do in our spirit and what we do in our physical life
separates into two different paths. Evil has won the first round in this
attack. Whether evil wins other rounds may perhaps depend upon whether
we pray and put as much as we can in the hands of our loving God.
What can you do? Stay in touch with Christ. Stay in prayer, stay in
obedience, and be strong in the Lord
