A Prayer For Joy In Poverty
Most Precious Lord Jesus, Gentle And Wonderful God, Truly Awesome And
Ever-present Holy Spirit,
When I have lost all my earthly things, and I have lost the material goods
I so highly treasure, please help me to cut the chains enslaving me to
those things.
When I am grief stricken over my loss of material possessions, please help
me see you are my greatest treasure.
When I have lost money, please show me my treasure is your love and bring
me your joy.
When I have lost my gold and silver, please show me that my real gold in
life is having you with me and beside me every moment.
When I am faced with physical poverty regardless of its source, please
help me cut the chains of physical things and find the freedom of your joy
within my heart.
When the chains of material things weigh me down, please free my spirit
and let my spirit soar with the eagles.
When I see physical death, please remind me that eternal life awaits me as
I accept you and trust in you, O Lord Jesus.
When I have lost all my physical things, please show me I can still find
you in your Word.
When I have lost all my physical things, please show me I can still pray,
sing about, trust, and believe in you.
All these things I humbly pray in the name of my most Blessed Lord Jesus
Christ, my Mighty God, and my Ever-present Holy Spirit upon whom I can
rely.
