A Prayer About What You Really Want

Precious Father,
Precious Lord Jesus,
Wonderful Holy Spirit,
In my human self, being selfish, I want financial wealth.
Then the shadow of your cross flashes across my heart and I want only the wealth of your love.
In my human self, being selfish, I want worldly fame and recognition.
Then the shadow of your cross flashes across my heart and I want only for you to recognize me as your humble child.
In my human self, being selfish, I want my needs served by others.
Then the shadow of your cross flashes across my heart and I want only to serve others.
In my human self, being selfish, I want to always get what I want.
Then the shadow of your cross flashes across my heart and I want only to want what you want for me.
In my human self, being selfish, I want to get even with those who have hurt me and kept me down.
Then the shadow of your cross flashes across my heart and I want only to forgive those who have hurt me.
Please Lord, help me never want what I want in my selfish human self.
Please Lord, help me want only to be your humble child.
