A Personal Lord's Prayer
Our
(God belongs to me and all other persons)
father
(the creator of all I am, the creator of my life, my body, my heart,
my soul, and my spirit)
who art
(who exists now, who shall exist for eternity, and whose power shall never
dim)
in heaven
(in the place above me full of eternal beauty and grace)
Hallowed
(honored, respected, holy beyond my imagination)
Be thy name
(respected for who God is, not just as a formality, but respected in awe
and wonder)
Thy kingdom
(the place where God rules, the earth, the stars, the moon, all the
universe and beyond)
Come
(become a reality, come now into my heart, come now into my life Lord
Jesus)
Thy will
(God's force, power, and direction for me on a personal level)
Be done
(be completed, be finished, be worked out, be put in place, be activated
within me on the deepest personal level)
On earth
(here in my place and in my time, in my reality, in this time and in any
future time)
As it is in heaven
(in heaven where you are listening to me this instant)
Give us
(give to me as I humbly ask, seek, and knock upon your heavenly door)
This day
(now, in this time, in this instant in which I am praying right
here, right now)
Our daily bread
(enough at least to keep me going, and keep me alive for I need little
else except to know you love me and know you walk with me)
Forgive us our debts
(I seek your forgiveness, I am sorry, I am overburdened with a godly
sorrow but in you I find forgiveness of these debts, a total erasing of
these debts, a vanishing of these debts as if these debts never were)
As we forgive our debtors
(in symbiotic relationship as I forgive others knowing full well what I
give to others you give to me, and what I withhold from others you
withhold from me)
Lead us not into temptation
(lead me only in the pure ways of your heart, lead me away from all
darkness, away from all sin, away from all the alluring sirens that call
me to do what you do not want me to do)
But deliver us from evil
(take me out of the darkness and evil, get me away from evil, pull me out
of the mess I am in, take away my pain and suffering, destroy any of my
evil thoughts)
For thine is the power and the glory forever.
(All power and glory belong to you forever and ever into the continuing
eons of eternity)
