The following conversation between a believer and God
is not meant to represent a specific theology or theological truth. It
represents one believer's struggle and the response that believer
represents as God's truth for that believer and that believer alone.
What
is it my child? Why are you so downcast before me?
It
is my remorse and my regrets. I am buried under regrets over what I
could have done, or should have done. I am buried under regrets because
of my mistakes and my failings. Every day they haunt me.
My
child. My dearest child. Don't you know your remorse and your regrets
are a good thing?
Please
don't tease me Lord. I am serious.
So
am I, my child.
How
can regrets and remorse possibly be a good thing?
My
child, if you did not care, if you did not try, then you would have no
remorse and no regrets. Regrets and remorse mean you care. Your remorse
and regrets mean you want to be more of who I want you to be. Remorse
and regrets are the starting point of growing before me.
Why
do they hurt? Why do regrets and remorse hurt me and haunt me?
Regrets
and remorse are supposed to hurt.
Why?
From
regrets and remorse you can learn what to do and what not to do. You are
supposed to learn from your mistakes, failings, and shortcomings. People
who do not care have no remorse and do not grow. People who do not care
and who have no regrets or remorse do not learn or grow. They live far
apart from me. Look at it this way. You have a conscience. Your
conscience hurts you sometimes but the hurt in your conscience is like a
glistening diamond when you let your conscience speak to you and you
follow your conscience. My child, you are the apple of my eye because
you are learning and growing. Your regrets and remorse are a blessing, a
hidden blessing given to you as a guide for you in the past and in the
days to come. Let me ask you, would you do over anything now causing you
regret or remorse?
Yes,
I would do everything over that now causes me regret and remorse.
See
what I mean? You have learned from having regret and remorse. Your
regret and remorse is a blessing in disguise but I want you to also
learn to move on. I want you to look to the future and unburden yourself
from some of your regret and remorse. I want you to understand your life
is a process of growing. Not all lives are growing. You are the apple of
my eye because you are growing. In your growing, with all your growing
pains, understand all people make mistakes but not all people learn from
their mistakes. You have a sensitive conscience. Although you are not
aware of it, I touch your life through your conscience. Understand you
are human and human beings make mistakes. It is the way it is in your
reality. However, you must learn to look ahead rather than looking
behind you. When you are burdened down with regret and remorse, you are
looking behind you rather than ahead. When you continually look behind
you, obstacles in your present and future become stumbling blocks
because you did not see them. Let me ask you this…would you like your
regret and remorse to keep you from seeing heaven?
No.
No. Of course not.
My
child, that is what your regret and remorse is doing to you at this
minute. Regret and remorse is a blessing but this blessing has become a
curse for you. Your regret and remorse has become a curse because you
have given up hope. You have given up looking into the future with
optimism. Your future is infinite. Even in the last hour of your earthly
life your future is infinite. Even in the last hour of your life your
future is full of challenges, joy, excitement, happiness, and a
brilliance of your spirit brighter than 10,000 of your suns. When you
walk with me, leave your regret and remorse behind but remember what
they have taught you. Use what your regret and remorse have taught you.
If you are not sure what your regret and remorse have taught you, spend
whatever time it takes to learn from them and grow from them.
Wouldn't
it be easier if you just gave me a lot more guidance?
Sorry.
I don't work that way. You must find your own way with mistakes,
failures, goofs, and times of falling down. You must experience these or
you never grow into who I want you to be.
Why
didn't you make me who you wanted me to be in the beginning?
I
did.
Oh.
I know. We fell.
Yes,
but I want you to be forever working to get back up. Even when you
repent and give your life to me, you still have to learn how to get back
up from your failures, mistakes, and times of falling down. Even when
you give your life to me, you still have a lot of growing to do. Giving
your life to me is only the beginning, not the end. From your beginning,
look ahead. Look ahead, my child. Every day, look ahead to the great
eternity waiting for you.
Thank
you Lord. I love you.
I
love you back my child. I love you back.
