About a defense against the adversary James 1:2 Consider it pure joy, my brothers, whenever you face trials of many kinds, 3 because you know that the testing of your faith develops perseverance. 4 Perseverance must finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything. (NIV) Every day the darkness lurks about us, seeking to tempt us and destroy our hearts for Christ. The adversary wants us to turn away and be consumed by anger, hatred, jealousy, greed, ego, and so many of the other vile sins. However, we need not be helpless babies. We have a mighty God who is full of love and light. We have a mighty Holy Spirit to help us defeat every foe. God's love and light are the best defense against Satan's painful arrows. His love and light are also the best offense to score points against a power of darkness that wants to take us down. In Christ, we have a person who insists upon our being a victorious warrior for Him. In Christ, we have a best friend who listens to every prayer. In Christ, we have a person who desires our honesty and who will listen to our every confession. In Christ, we have a person who understands every trial. |
