A Daily Devotional

About a giving God…

Luke 11:13 If you then, though you are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give the Holy Spirit to those who ask him!"

Our God is a giving God. God does not take from us…we take from each other. We take each other's lives. We take each other's things. We take each other's time. We are evil. We have the capacity for good. Although we are evil, we can be good. Sometimes we are good. However, compared to God, we are evil. God is a giver. God gives us our life. God gave us the life of His only begotten Son, even when we were undeserving. What else can God do? God can and will give us the Holy Spirit. God can and will give us the essence of His presence. God can and will give us His forgiving love, power, and grace. However, to receive His giving love, His giving power, and His giving grace, we must ask. We must ask not just with our mouth, we must ask with all of our heart and soul. We must abandon all we are and we must turn away from being evil. We must surrender all we are because surrendering all we are goes hand in hand with our asking.
