Previous Daily Devotional About actually knowing the will of God… 1 John 2:17 The world and its desires pass away, but the man who does the will of God lives forever. (NIV) We all know the will of God. Inwardly…deep, deep down…we all know. Every person, even the worst sinner, tries to avoid confronting their sin or being caught in their sin. We all know the will of God but we deny. We all deny. Before Christ, we are born outside His law. Before Christ, no one is righteous, not one. There should be no big mystery about knowing the will of God. Perhaps the mystery about the will of God comes when we want specific answers about ourselves. When God may not reveal to us what we want revealed about our immediate circumstances, then we may be asking God to reveal His will in our selfishness and self-centeredness. Yet even in our selfishness and self-centeredness, we all know at the deepest level God wants us to be holy, godly, and devout. To fully know the will of God, be willing to know what you do not want to know. To fully know the will of God, be willing to know the toughest truth of all.
