Previous Daily Devotional About affirming Jesus when evil strikes…. Psalm 85: 4 Restore us again, O God our Savior, and put away your displeasure toward us. 5 Will you be angry with us forever? Will you prolong your anger through all generations? 6 Will you not revive us again, that your people may rejoice in you? 7 Show us your unfailing love, O LORD, and grant us your salvation. (NIV) When evil strikes, one of the last things most people think to do is to affirm Jesus. For when evil strikes, the purpose of evil is to get you to doubt, to wonder if Jesus is or was real, to question the existence of God, and to affirm you do not know what you believe. However, when evil strikes, you must remember in the ministry of Christ, evil tried to destroy Him at the beginning of His ministry and fomented evil ideas in the minds of leaders and rulers during His ministry. Finally, at the end of our Lord's earthly life, evil struck one last horrible blow by torturing and crucifying our Lord. So it isn't as if Jesus does not know about you and about your life when evil strikes. He knows all too well what life is like in the depths of your despair when evil comes against you. However, Jesus came back. Jesus overcame. Jesus won out. The reason Jesus endured the pain and suffering He endured is so you too can come back, so you too can win out, so you too can overcome every kind of evil. The reason Jesus suffered and died such a horrible death is so you too can overcome every kind of suffering, and so you too can overcome every kind of torture, persecution, and pain. You can overcome by affirming Him who overcame. You can win by affirming Him who won. You can find eternity by affirming Him who can lead you into His Heaven that is eternal. |
