Previous Daily Devotional This Devotional Is Part Of A Special Continuing Series Related To Dependency And Co-dependency Issues. Rules Of Godly Common Sense Apply. About appearing rigid and controlled… Romans 6:20 When you were slaves to sin, you were free from the control of righteousness. (NIV) When we are imprisoned by emotional and personal issues we are rigid and controlled. Being imprisoned, we then have little freedom. Trying to live our life for any person other than Christ puts us in a prison and we are then controlled by the darkness. Trying to live our life for any reason other than doing the wonderful will of God also removes our freedom. God did not make us to be robots. However, when we push aside our personal freedom in favor of living a life of sin, then we make ourselves into rigid and controlled creatures. Persons living a sinful life would never admit they are rigid and controlled by their sin…until the society in which the person lives, or some other kind of circumstance, takes control of the person's life. The ultimate freedom in life is spiritual freedom. Ultimate spiritual freedom in life comes about only when all of our sins are forgiven and we are no longer slaves tied down by the dark chains of sin making us rigid and controlled.
