Previous Daily Devotional About
asking for whatever you wish… John 15:7 If you remain in me and my
words remain in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be given you. (NIV) We have our wants and our needs. If you were standing before Christ, what would you ask Christ to give you? Or, would you remain silent? Would you remain silent before Christ because you were overcome with the power of His light and love? If you were physically standing before Christ, if you were overwhelmed by His love and light, what you would ask for, if you asked for anything at all, would be only the godliest of requests. What you would ask for would only be filled with the divine. In our everyday walk with Christ, we do stand before Him in physical terms. Yet in our everyday walk with Christ, we are to be caught up in adoration and humble worship of Him. When we are consumed by His light and love we ask for little. When we stand in His light and love, we are grateful without receiving anything at all because we have already received His precious gift of eternal life. It is in a state of being grateful without being given anything we are given whatever we ask. Our Lord did not use some kind of trick phrase in this verse because when we understand what God wants from us, we ask only what God wants us to ask. In His love, we want only what He wants us to want. In His love, we wish for only what He wants us to wish.
