Previous Daily Devotional Look and see the beauty of the earth 1 Corinthians 15:40 There are also heavenly bodies and there are earthly bodies; but the splendor of the heavenly bodies is one kind, and the splendor of the earthly bodies is another. (NIV) We live in a busy world leading busy lives. We rush here and there with our cell phones glued to our ears. We grow impatient at traffic congestion and can't wait for the email to fully download. If we are not busy we are consumed by life and consumed by the fast pace of our computerized age. In all the mad dashes of life, we miss God's creation. We miss seeing the grandeur of His mountains, the orange majesty of His sunset and sunrise, the sparkle of His new fallen snow, and the glistening of sunlight upon His lake or stream. We generally live in cities and towns surrounded by civilization. No matter how gleaming and awesome a skyscraper may be, the skyscraper cannot compare to the delicate beauty of His monarch butterfly or the crisp twitch of His squirrel's busy tail. In missing out on God's creation, we miss out on the love He invested in it during its creation and we miss out on His daily support of it. When we do not look beneath the surface of His sea, or beneath the bark of His maple tree, we miss out on His unfathomable genius in creating such a complex system within a system within a system that extends out to the infinite. Outside your door is a blade of His grass, His tiny ant, or His white clipper ship cloud that calls out His name. |
