Previous Daily Devotional About being lonely John 5:7 "Sir," the invalid replied, "I have no one to help me into the pool when the water is stirred. While I am trying to get in, someone else goes down ahead of me." 8 Then Jesus said to him, "Get up! Pick up your mat and walk." 9 At once the man was cured; he picked up his mat and walked. (NIV) All of us come to points in our lives where we need help. All of us come to points in our lives where we have no one. The distress of loneliness is a part of being alive. When you meet utter distress and find you have no one to help you, you can call out to Jesus for He is always listening and He always wants to help you. Christ may not help you in the way you want to be helped. There are times when Christ may help you in ways that seem to be no help at all. However, you must trust that in His wisdom and grace that what Christ does for you is the utmost help for you. When you are alone and need Him, Christ will show Himself to you in ways you can understand. When you need other people and they cannot be there for you or you cannot be with them, Christ lives within your heart and touches you to ease your pain of loneliness. When you are isolated and cannot move about as you want, Christ will touch your heart and heal you from the pain of the isolation. Christ will set you free from the chains and shackles of your life. Christ is the great healer and He will heal the wounds that you suffer. Christ wants the very best for you and the very best from you. He is prepared to see you through every moment of loneliness and imprisonment. When you falter in your faith because your faith has run out and you are full of doubt, Christ is always ready to pour a new supply of faith into your heart if you are willing to let Him do so. In the battle you wage every day, Christ is always there to give you the energy to do His work and do His will. In our isolation and loneliness, we sometimes wander off the Lord's path. However, when we go astray, the Great Shepherd comes and calls us to come back to Him. In the din of voices that call you to go the way of the world, you may want to follow those voices because loneliness and isolation make you more attuned to the voices of sin around you. However, when you come to Christ in your time of need, He is there to speak to you and His voice drowns out the sinful callings that would make you fall. Most of all, when you are lonely, Christ is always there for you, pouring His love into your heart. |
