Previous Daily Devotional About being with God Zephaniah 2: 15This is the carefree city that lived in safety. She said to herself, "I am, and there is none besides me." What a ruin she has become, a lair for wild beasts! All who pass by her scoff and shake their fists. (NIV) This verse is not just about a city; it is also about us. It is about a person who is so smug and so secure that no thought is ever given about God or spiritual things. The wealthy and healthy can live their whole lives without God, up until a final moment when, to their utter horror, they realize they are alone, desolate, and on the very edge of the abyss. Each of us will come to a final moment. Each of us will come to a place in our lives where we are to walk over to the other side and at that moment, we do not need to fear a horrible end. Instead, we can look forward to an infinite time where we can be full of glory and see wonders beyond our present knowing. Each day we are alive is a day for thanksgiving and is a day for us to express to God our love. Each day is a day we can be humble before our Savior. Each day we can raise our hearts in glorious prayer because we love Him and He loves us. |
