About a story written on the heart…

Matthew 1:18 This is how the birth of Jesus Christ came about… (NIV)

We all have heard stories of various kinds. We watch television shows and behind every comedy or drama there is a story written in the form of a script. Biographers write the stories of a person's life. The beginning of the greatest story ever told is the story about the birth of Jesus. At the unction of the Holy Spirit, the apostle Matthew wrote down the story of the birth of Jesus so you could read it. God directed Matthew to write this story so you could take the story into your heart. Like every word in the Bible, we are to take in every word of the Christmas story and feast upon it in our heart. We are to feast upon these most gracious and wonderful words from God via Matthew so these most gracious and wonderful words sink into our heart and as a result, our life is changed. God wants us to know about the birth of Jesus so we will be changed by the story. The Christmas story, when written on your heart, does change you. As dark a place as the world still is, the Light of the world born in Bethlehem has brought to the world the great light of all our lives. We can praise God in mighty ways for inspiring Matthew to record the Christmas story. Meditate for just a moment about how much richer and fuller your life is because you have heard about the birth of Jesus. Imagine how dark life would be without Christmas.
