About true celebration Matthew 1:23 "The virgin will be with child and will give birth to a son, and they will call him Immanuel"--which means, "God with us." We celebrate Christmas as the day our Savior was born. What must not escape us in this magnificent Christmas story lies the pursuit of Mary and Joseph by forces who wanted to kill Jesus. What lies within the story of our Savior's birth is the story of a normal man and a normal woman who did God's will without complaint, without excuse, without whining, and without protesting. In the Christmas story, we see two people who were humble. On this day of the year when His birth is most on our minds, we must focus on not only the humility of Mary and Joseph, but also look upon our own humility. We shine out the light of Christ's love best when we are most humble. We shine the light of Christ least when we are full of selfishness, pride, and ego. No matter what we give or receive on Christmas, when we do not give or receive in humility, then we do not give or receive in love. What Christ wants as your celebration this Christmas season is your own heart born anew in Him and in His humility. What Christ wants as your celebration is your own heart given away to others and to Him in His humility. |
