About your life in historic times Matthew 1:22 took place to fulfill what the Lord had said through the prophet (NIV) God does use people to communicate. God had said through many prophets what would someday come to pass. In the minds of the people who heard the prophets of old, and in the minds of people who later read the prophecies from the holy scripture, surely, they thought, the foretold events might be taking place in their own time. We know people were looking for a Messiah at the time of the birth of Jesus. The Messiah had been promised. At this point in the Christmas story, what God had promised through the prophets was about to come to pass for Mary, for Joseph, for you, and for me. One would say that Mary, Joseph, and the people of their era lived in historic times. However, the people of that era did not know about living in historic times for they had no more sense of history than do most of us today. Had the people of the era of Christ's birth and life known the importance of Him, perhaps they would have behaved differently. However, perhaps the rulers and powers of that time did know of His importance, for the rulers and powers wanted to kill Him. You too, live in historic times. Perhaps, when you think and pray about matters, you will do things differently. Perhaps with your own personal view of God, and a view of your personal place in His kingdom, you will do things differently than those persons who are without much faith. Perhaps your faith can serve to help you be a beaming light for those people around you who do not pray, and who do not believe they live in truly historic times. |
