About Christ's suffering upon the cross and others…

Romans 8:29 For those God foreknew he also predestined to be conformed to the likeness of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brothers. (NIV)

Romans 8:29 For whom he did foreknow, he also did predestinate to be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brethren. (KJV)

When the suffering of Christ upon the cross is the first thing we see when we look at others, then we treat others and we respond to them as Christ would treat them and respond to them. With Christ's suffering upon the cross in the foreground, when others treat us badly then we forgive them and we treat them with respect. With Christ's suffering upon the cross in the foreground, when we see others in need we respond to them with love and with no selfish motives of our own. With Christ's suffering upon the cross in the foreground, we treat others as if Christ is alive in us reaching out from within us...because He is alive within us reaching out from within us. With Christ as our savior and with His suffering before us, others can often see the difference in us. Our Christian life may be selfishly about us in the very beginning of our walk with Christ. However, after the very beginning is over, our Christian life is then about others and not about ourselves. We all need to grow out of our beginning stages of our faith and grow into a more mature stage where others become more important as we grow less important. Our growth in Christ begins and ends as we kneel at the foot of His cross. As we kneel before Him, we are then empowered to reach out in love to help others and love them as just Christ loves them.
