Previous Daily Devotional This Devotional Is Part Of A Special Continuing Series Related To Dependency And Co-dependency Issues. Rules Of Godly Common Sense Apply. About compulsively spending money… Proverbs 25:28 Like a city whose walls are broken down is a man who lacks self-control. (NIV) Being frugal and saving your money is godly behavior. Compulsively spending money, that is, spending money because you have no or little control over your behavior, can lead to disaster. Spending money because you feel you must spend it must be stopped if you are the compulsive spender. Compulsively spending money is a sign of other major problems and issues brewing in a person's life. If we consider and treat our money as a gift from God, we would do all we can to spend our money wisely and with forethought. The major point here is whether you have control over your spending behavior. Walking each day in the presence of God brings more self control over your spending habits. Each of us must consider whether our spending is godly or not. God is glorified in our life by what we do and how we do it. God is glorified when we give to Him in all ways, including our tithes and offerings. If we spend money without any self-control we hurt ourselves and others. |
