About
the consequences of hearing God…
Hebrews 1:2 but in these last days he
has spoken to us by his Son, whom he appointed heir of all things, and through
whom he made the universe. 3 The Son is the radiance of God's glory and the
exact representation of his being, sustaining all things by his powerful word.
After he had provided purification for sins, he sat down at the right hand of
the Majesty in heaven. (NIV)
What
if we had never heard God speak in any way, shape, or form? What if we had no
Bible, no message from God of any kind, and no way to even know there is a
God?
If
you never heard God speak, there would be and there definitely is emptiness in
your soul.
If
you never heard God speak, there would be and there definitely is emptiness in
your life.
If
you never heard God speak, there would be and there definitely is a vacuum
continually consuming your every thought and action.
If
you never heard God speak, your needs would never be filled and your needs would
be ever-growing.
If
you never heard God speak, your wants would never be satisfied and your wants
would always be increasing.
However,
if you are willing to listen, you can hear God.
You
can hear God speak.
You
can know what God has said because you can read the words God spoke in His word.
You
can, because God has spoken and you can hear Him, describe God to some degree.
You
have a record, a written record, about the time when God walked the earth.
God
has not only spoken to you, but God has provided you a way to purify yourself
from your sins…the sins putting a barrier between you and God.
God
spoke and gave you His Son as the atoning sacrifice for you, so you could
inherit eternal life in heaven.
Since
you have heard God, would your picture of God be of Him hanging from a cross?
