Previous Daily Devotional About the cry of the multitudes for spiritual life… Luke 15:24 'For this son of mine was dead and is alive again; he was lost and is found.' (NIV) Matthew 9:36 When he saw the crowds, he had compassion on them, because they were harassed and helpless, like sheep without a shepherd. (NIV) "We are the multitudes. Please hear our cry. We are not consumed with a passion that takes us elsewhere. We are consumed only with a passionless preference to be set free from the deadness of our life, to be set free from the deadness of our soul, and to be set free from the deadness of our heart. We have no passion left. We want help but we cannot express our need. We are broken but we cannot cry out." Some people believe physical death is final. Some people believe physical death is the end of us spiritually, emotionally, and physically. Some people believe physical death results in the absence of all that is for the person who died. Some people believe physical death is the utter darkness where there is nothing in our past and nothing in our future. There is, for many people, a death of their spirit when their bodies are still alive. When we experience spiritual death, we perceive we are in a place where we are imprisoned but there are no bars or prison gates. When we experience spiritual death, we perceive there is nothing in our future and nothing in our past. When we experience spiritual death, we cannot cry out, for no one will hear us. In the times of our spiritual death, we must keep and preserve the idea that our life starts in a microscopic world with the spark or touch of God. In the animal kingdom, life starts with a microscopic sperm and an egg joining together as a result of the touch of God. In the plant kingdom, microscopic grains of pollen make it possible for a plant to reproduce from a seed as a result of the touch of God. Within you, there is a continual power (the touch of God) that keeps your heart beating and your mind thinking. Even in what we think is the deadness of our spirit, there is not really deadness. For within what we think is the deadness of our spirit is a tiny spark. This tiny spark of spirit within you can expand and touch every part of your being. This tiny spark is the touch of God upon you and the touch of God within you. This tiny spark that is the touch of God, can set you free. This tiny spark that is the touch of God, can unlock the prison bars and open the prison gate of your deadness. This tiny spark that is the touch of God within you can give you the passion to live and can cause you to come back to life in spirit. This tiny spark that is the touch of God within you, can give you the passion to live again, even when you think you are dead inside. This tiny spark that is the touch of God within you, can cause you to reach out for help. This tiny spark that is the touch of God within you, can cause you to express your need. Within you, this tiny spark is the spark that appears when God touches you and you touch Him. In your life, in your soul, you know deep down, all you need is this tiny spark. In addition, you know deep down you already have within you the tiny spark, for the tiny spark that is the touch of God is what gave you life when you were created, and the tiny spark is what gives you life this instant. |
