About the cry of the multitudes for spiritual vision…
John 9:25 I was blind but now I see! (NIV)
Matthew 9:36 When he saw the crowds, he had compassion on them, because they
were harassed and helpless, like sheep without a shepherd. (NIV)
"We are the multitudes. Please hear our cry. Our eyes stare out in blank
numbness. We see but have no vision. People and things surround us but we have
no connection to any of our surroundings. We hear and understand what people
speak but we cannot receive meaning or purpose in what we hear. We are trapped
in a hellish world of self. We look up but do not see the sky. When we look up
and there are clouds in the sky, we do not see the clouds, even when our vision
is perfect. We do not see the stars at night, even when our vision is
20/20."
Even if no one understands you, a true inner friend understands you. Even if
no one sees you, a true inner friend sees you. Even if people surround you with
whom you have no connection, a true inner friend is connected to you. Even if
you receive no meaning or purpose from the people with whom you interact, a true
inner friend is supplying you with immense meaning and immense purpose for your
life. Even if you are trapped in an outer darkness of self, your true inner
friend can release you from the binding numbness of your outer darkness. Even if
you cannot see the sky, your true inner friend can bring the sky down to a place
within your heart and mind so you can soar up into the heavens. Even if you
cannot see the clouds, your true inner friend can swirl the clouds around you
and make the clouds billow up within your soul. Even if you do not see the
stars, your true inner friend can take you on a magical tour of all the
galaxies. Even if you do not feel loved, your true inner friend is, at this very
instant, loving you and immersing you in the power of His love. Your true inner
friend is Jesus, a true inner friend who will never leave you or forsake you.
