Previous Daily Devotional About the desires of your heart... Psalms 37:4 Delight yourself in the LORD and he will give you the desires of your heart. (NIV) We all have our list of wants and needs. It is the middle of December as this is written and most of the Christmas lists have been made. There is a vital secret in this verse. This secret is so vital one could call the secret "The Secret of Life." Some people will read this verse and think that God is promising them unlimited monetary wealth or promising them anything they want. However, there is a problem with that kind of interpretation. The problem with believing that God will give you anything you want is that when you delight yourself in the Lord, you do not want monetary wealth. When you delight in the Lord you do not want material things. When you delight yourself in the Lord what you desire in your heart is to be a person of God, to share in God’s love, to forgive others, to always do the will of God, and to receive Christ into your heart and life….and that is exactly what you get from Him…the desires of your heart. |
