About
discovering God…
Isaiah 53:1
Who has believed our message and to whom has the arm of the Lord been
revealed? 2 He grew up before him like a tender shoot, and like a root out of
dry ground. He had no beauty or majesty to attract us to him, nothing in his
appearance that we should desire him. 3 He was despised and rejected by men, a
man of sorrows, and familiar with suffering. Like one from whom men hide their
faces he was despised, and we esteemed him not. 4 Surely he took up our
infirmities and carried our sorrows, yet we considered him stricken by God,
smitten by him, and afflicted. (NIV)
Many people search for
God all the time. Many people wonder about God all the time. Many people study
the wisdom of the ages to find some new morsel of wisdom about Him. At the same
time many people search for God, other people also try not to search for Him.
Many people want to run away from God. Many people want nothing to do with Him.
If you are one of the people seeking to know more about God or you are one of
the people searching for God, there is a way to find Him. The way to find God is
to open your heart and look at Him hanging from His cross. There is something
unfathomable about God letting His Son hang from the cross. There is something
unfathomable about God being willing to see His Son undergo the torture, pain,
and humiliation of the cross. When we really and truly want to discover God, we
must first look at Christ on the cross. To discover God, we must be willing to
accept the consequences of finding God being crucified. Then, when we find God
being crucified for each of us, we must be willing to let this discovery change
us, even to the point of destroying us so we can become a new person in Him.
