About the display of God's power…

Psalm 71:18 Even when I am old and gray, do not forsake me, O God, till I declare your power to the next generation, your might to all who are to come. (NIV)

The visible appearance of God's power can be an on-again off-again thing. We often want a mighty and visible display of God's power. We want God to show the evil ones of the world who is really the boss. However, there may never be a visible display of any kind of visible power from God. God is sometimes a no-show when it comes to displaying His power like we want His power displayed. If we could write the script, most of us would write a scenario of fire from heaven falling down upon the evil ones while the good people cheer from the sidelines. However, we are not the script writers. God is the script writer. God determines the times, places, and seasons of His visible display of power, not us. We must remember, however, the power of God flows through each moment and every event. The power of God is opposed by the power of Satan. We are the beings in the center of the conflict. What glorifies God the most in every circumstance is when we can speak about Him, love Him, adore Him, and worship Him when there is no visible display of His power. God does not "take out" the evil people because the evil people were the ones Christ died to save.
