About
embracing Christ when your heart is hurting…
John 3:14 Just as Moses lifted up the
snake in the desert, so the Son of Man must be lifted up, that everyone who
believes in him may have eternal life. (NIV)
When
your heart is hurting, wrap your arms around Christ and embrace Him. Having a
wounded heart is a common experience. Your heart can be hurt by Satan and by the
power of darkness. When your heart is in this pain-filled state you must act to
fix your heart. Just like you would bandage a wound or cut, you must bandage
your hurting heart. To bandage your heart you must take action by wrapping
something around your heart. However, in supernatural terms, what Christ wants
you to do is wrap your heart around Him by embracing Him. Our act of
faithfulness in reaching out to Him and embracing Him when we are in pain is a
higher glorification of His love than sitting and waiting on Him to serve us. To
deal with your hurting heart, it is vital you understand the idea of taking
action by applying a soothing cloth to the area of injury. When your heart is
hurting, the last thing you normally want to do is take some action or to do
something other than nurse the hurt. A hurting heart makes you want to stop
everything. Normally, we do not want to risk any more hurt so we do not reach
out to another person or to Christ. When we are in pain, we normally want Christ
to touch us rather than our wanting to touch Him. However, when you are in pain,
you must not just sit in your darkness. When you are in your pain, you must move
toward Christ’s love for you. Jesus is the Light of the world. He can mend
your heart, but you must move toward Him and wrap your heart around Him so He
will in turn wrap Himself around you.
