Previous Daily Devotional This Devotional Is Part Of A Special Continuing Series Related To Dependency And Co-dependency Issues. Rules Of Godly Common Sense Apply. About equating love with pain… 1 Corinthians 13: 4 Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. 5 It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. 6 Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. (NIV) We are often wrong about many things. Sadly, many people have never had an encounter with real love. Pain is all some people have ever known in their relationships. For some people, because of circumstances in their life and upbringing, love and pain can mean the same thing. Real love does not hurt. Real love soothes, comforts, and uplifts. Real love sails us over obstacles and gives us power. Real love does not beat us down but gently pulls us up to see the beauty and power of God. Real love does not stop us…real love starts us. Real love does not think about bad things other people do to us…real love forgives. Real love does not dwell on darkness…real love lives in and dwells upon Christ's goodness and light. Real love does not strike out to hurt…real love reaches out to help. |
