Thursday's Daily Devotional

About exerting yourself toward worship…

John 4:24 God is spirit, and his worshipers must worship in spirit and in truth." (NIV)

In our world today, worship is increasingly centered on the entertainment value of the worship service. In addition, people shop for the kind of worship service that will suit their needs and suit their desires. However, like every aspect of life, we are not supposed to look only for the worship service we want when we want it. In our worship time, we are to exert ourselves toward worship. Whether you get blessed in worship should never be an issue in your life because in Christ we are to sacrifice and make sacrifices. In your worship life, the first qualifier is whether you are doing only what Christ wants rather than doing what you want. For many reasons, you must exert yourself in worship rather than expecting the worship experience to exert some outside force upon you. It is normal to want to be blessed by a worship service, but when we expect to be blessed in worship rather than exerting ourselves to be a blessing in worship, we are giving Satan an opportunity to drive us away from the worship time. So, when you are not blessed in worship, be a blessing to others and to God in your worship. When you are sick, be a blessing in your worship time anyway. When you are discouraged, be a blessing in your worship time anyway. When you are disappointed, be a blessing in your worship time anyway. The more you bless God and others in worship, the more you will be blessed in return. Prayer Page For Wednesday [Go]  Affirmation Page For Wednesday [Go]
