Previous Daily Devotional This Devotional Is Part Of A Special Continuing Series Related To Dependency And Co-dependency Issues. Rules Of Godly Common Sense Apply. About feeling insecure and guilty when someone gives to you… Matthew 26:27 Then he took the cup, gave thanks and offered it to them, saying, "Drink from it, all of you." (NIV) Our sin does not want us to accept love. Our sin wants us to feel insecure and guilty when someone gives to us. Our sin wants us to be buried in the darkness so gifts of love given to us do not reach our heart. Giving thanks and being grateful are two of the most important keys to a happy life. Feeling insecure and guilty when receiving a gift means we must look within and change our heart by glorying in the love being expressed to us in the form of a gift. When we cannot receive a gift in a spirit of love, we must run to the Cross and look up to Him to see how He gave His all for us. When we first understand the magnitude and meaning of the Cross, our guilt comes upon us not so much because Christ gave His life for us, but because we accept are fallen sinners. To fully accept Christ's sacrifice for us, we must see our sin and turn away from our sin. When we cannot accept a gift of love without feeling guilty, we must turn more fully away from our darkness and turn more fully to the Light of our Lord.
