fending off an attack… Romans We live in a violent and mean-spirited world. The greatest violence and the greatest meanness do not always come to us from war or street violence but from the great adversary and great deceiver, Satan. Satan attacks us with our sicknesses, our temptations, our getting old, our separation from God, and our falling down because of our many weaknesses. However, there will come a time when our great adversary is finally and totally defeated upon the earth. Until that great battle is waged, each of us must wage a great battle of our own every hour. What we must all keep in mind is that we can all be winners by fending off Satan’s attacks. We fend off Satan’s attacks by spending time in prayer, first praying for others, then praying we be enabled to do the Lord’s will and not our own. We fend off Satan’s attacks by being willing to walk God’s path and not our own. We fend off Satan’s attacks by refusing to knuckle under to temptation. We fend off Satan’s attacks by loving others more than we love ourselves. It is not easy to fend off Satan’s attacks. Fending off attacks by Satan always has a cost. However, when you stand firm and do not relent in living a holy and devout life for your Savior, there will come a day of rejoicing just for you. On that day of rejoicing, your Lord will wrap His arms around you in love and victory.
