Previous Daily Devotional About finding God when you think you have lost God… 1 Peter 5:5 All of you, clothe yourselves with humility toward one another, because, "God opposes the proud but gives grace to the humble." 6 Humble yourselves, therefore, under God's mighty hand, that he may lift you up in due time. 7 Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you. (NIV) We are all distracted. We are all caught up in a dizzying array of sights, sounds, temptations, pain, suffering, stress, fears, worries, doubts, and concerns. To be a person of God or a godly person requires you put your soul in the hands of God and shun, with the greatest intention, the distractions of daily life. The only problem with shunning temptations and distractions is that Satan has your number and Satan will, by any means possible, draw you away from God. We are all in this eternal contest. We are all pulled upward and downward at the same time. By using deceptions, lies, and subterfuge, Satan can destroy your spirituality. To regain a sense of your soul, you must first recognize what Satan is doing and recognize where you are with God. When you are under attack by Satan, the great adversary, you must be honest with God. You must be able to tell God how things are with you and how much you need Him. When you are under attack and you think you have lost God, you must always be honest and always tell God you miss Him and you miss having Him as part of your life. For when you start being this honest with God, God suddenly appears or reappears in your life. When God appears or reappears in your life, your soul is renewed, and you find you have not lost God after all. You regain your sense of God in your life not by taking anything. You regain your sense of God in your life by giving. You regain your sense of God by giving your soul to God. When you trust God so completely to be able to give your soul to Him, you receive back His love, His care, His mercy, and His eternal life through Christ Jesus. |
