A Daily Devotional About
finding peace, love, and happiness in the darkness... Matthew 8:5 When Jesus
had entered Capernaum, a centurion came to him, asking for help. 6
"Lord," he said, "my servant lies at home paralyzed and in
terrible suffering." 7
Jesus said to him, "I will go and heal him." (NIV) The
dark circumstances of death, destruction, suffering, and evil are realities and
they can occur in your life. However, just because these realities can
occur does not mean they should occur.
What we must remember when we face death, destruction, suffering, and evil is
that God's will is also a reality in your life. What is most important for us to
recognize is the occurrence of any of these dark circumstances is NOT part of
God's will for your life. The occurrence of any of these dark circumstances goes
against the will of God. The question you must ask, in fact, the most important
question of your life, is “What do I do when death, destruction, suffering,
and evil appear in my life?” How you answer this most important question of
your life determines the substance of your daily existence. How you answer this
most important question determines whether you have peace, love, and happiness.
How you answer this most important question determines whether you leave a
bright and brilliant mark upon the hearts of others, or whether you leave a
terrible dark blotch written on the hearts of others it takes generations to
erase. To confront and defeat death, you are to see Christ as your Savior and as
your way to eternal life. To confront and defeat destruction, you are to repair
the destruction in His name and in His love. To confront and defeat suffering in
others, you are to comfort. To confront and defeat suffering in yourself, you
are to pray for strength and then persevere. To confront and defeat evil, you
are to resist and bring the Light of His love into every darkness.
