About following the Light…

Matthew 2:8 He sent them to Bethlehem and said, "Go and make a careful search for the child. As soon as you find him, report to me, so that I too may go and worship him." 9 After they had heard the king, they went on their way, and the star they had seen in the east went ahead of them until it stopped over the place where the child was. (NIV)

The bright light of the star stands out from the darkness in the sky. The Light of the world, our Savior Jesus Christ, stands out from the darkness of the world in which we live. Our world is a mixture of good and evil. Just like the wise men were wise enough to follow the light of the star, we should be wise enough to follow the Light of the world. Each of us has the capacity for wisdom. Each us can have spiritual treasures stored up for ourselves in heaven if we use our common sense wisdom. The alternative to wisdom is willful ignorance. We can remain ignorant by choice and live in darkness or we can choose to follow the Light of the world.
