About the foolishness of greed…

Luke 12:15 Then he said to them, "Watch out! Be on your guard against all kinds of greed; a man's life does not consist in the abundance of his possessions." (NIV)

We can be so very blind. We can be so very ignorant. We can be so incredibly lost in our life and in our greed we cannot see what is right before us. We can grab as much money and material stuff as we can because we cannot see the spiritual treasures within our reach. We think we want more of everything. We even go to extreme lengths to get more of everything. Yet, we do not need all the wealth and treasures of the world because we already have spiritual wealth and spiritual treasures beyond what the world can possess or understand. To be greedy for material treasure is foolish because within our very grasp this minute is the key to every real spiritual treasure. Within our grasp this minute is the spiritual key to love, peace, contentment, and a spirit that reaches up to the stars. No amount of money can buy love. No amount of stuff can bring us peace. No amount of any material thing can bring us contentment. No amount of wealth can buy us the spirit that seeks to touch the stars. Greed is foolish because we already have spiritual riches within our grasp. Greed is foolish because we already have the spiritual riches to make life fulfilling, pleasant, and sweet. Greed is foolish because we can find all the spiritual treasures of God, not outside of us, but inside of us. Greed is foolish because the peace of God is obtainable by any person who seeks Him. Greed is foolish because the contentment God brings is accessible to any person who surrenders their life to Him. Greed is foolish because all the healing love that could ever be can become a reality within our soul if we reach out and touch the hem of His garment.
