About
a future full of peace…
John
16:33
"I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this
world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world." (NIV)
In
many parts of the world there is unspeakable horror, suffering, and hatred.
Within every land there are people who live and breathe every minute in
sin-filled hatred. Too often the very worst part of our hate-filled human nature
emerges in the home, in the workplace, on the road, and in our social
institutions. To bring peace into our hearts and into all the places of earth,
we need Christ’s love and healing touch. We need Christ to help us, for we
cannot bring peace into the darkness of our life on our own. We cannot bring
peace into our life on our own because sin covers us and prevents us from being
the persons of peace Christ calls us to be. As much as we want to tell ourselves
we can bring peace and live in peace, we have failed to bring peace by our own
efforts. We have failed to tame the hatred and venom infecting the human heart
because the human heart is full of sin. Recognizing our sin problem, we must
kneel down at the foot of the cross and seek Christ’s forgiveness as we turn
away from our venom and hatred. When we ask Christ into our heart and life He
will bring us waves of His peace for our soul. When we ask Him, Christ will pour
His love over us and into our heart. Then, His healing power will fill our heart
with His peace to erase the poison to in so many hearts. When we ask Him, Christ
will bring His peace as He repairs broken souls with His love and mercy. When we
ask Him, Christ will bring peace and comfort to those who are grieving and hurt
by acts of hatred and violence. When we ask Him, Christ will give us a peace and
contentment with a new vision of a secure future free of hatred and violence…a
future full of peace.
