Previous Daily Devotional About getting help from God Psalms 18:6 In my distress I called to the LORD; I cried to my God for help. From his temple he heard my voice; my cry came before him, into his ears. (NIV) We all need help at some point in life. Some of us need help every day just to get through the day. Others think they need help only occasionally. In getting help, the most important part is letting ourselves be helped. This last sentence is not a twisted thought nor is it a twisted sentence. To receive help from God, we must be willing to put our soul, our life, and our heart into a position from Him so He can work in us and through us. With God, we cannot have help on our terms. With God, we can get help only on His terms. If we had our own way, every time we called on God for help, He would deliver what we want, like we want it. Fortunately for us, God does not work that way. To receive help from God, we must cast aside our ego, our wants, our pride, our selfishness, and our sin. When we cast aside the parts of us that separate us from God, He then helps us in ways we cannot imagine. |
