Previous Daily Devotional About getting praise from God John 12:43 for they loved praise from men more than praise from God. (NIV) Most of us want to do the right thing and for doing the right thing, most of us want to be noticed. We want our lives, our deeds, and our work to be seen by others. Few of us want to hide away in a cave never to be seen by others. We want praise and recognition for our accomplishments. We want, even in a small way, to be famous. Becoming a devout person of God requires we seek praise from God, not praise from men. Seeking praise from God requires that we quietly serve Christ in anonymous ways. This silent and invisible service has few rewards from man. When we do our deeds for Christ in secret, only He knows what we do. The founders of our faith were martyred for their devout allegiance to God. They could have saved their lives if they had sought popularity with the ruling powers of their day. They were martyred for our faith because they sought the praises of God rather than the praise and recognition of man. Today do silent and anonymous deeds, praise God for sending His Son, and praise God for the blessings He has poured out upon all of us. |
