About giving God our selves…

2 Corinthians 12:14 Now I am ready to visit you for the third time, and I will not be a burden to you, because what I want is not your possessions but you. (NIV)

In truth, many of the material things of earth have a grip upon us. We so often worship material things it is as if these things make us a slave. When the material things of life consume us, we must always come to the Lord in truth…the truth that comes from our heart. Telling God the truth moves the mountains that separate us from Him. There should never be a time when we cannot share all that we have and are with Christ, yet the material things of this world often prevent us from giving Him our heart and soul. When we look at our material possessions, we should think not of these things, but of God. When we must think about money and financial matters, we must remind ourselves that what we possess is not ours but the Lord's. Instead of letting money and money worries possess us, we can assure ourselves that our possessions are not ours. We must then remind ourselves we are only the stewards of the Lord's things. God has made all things and all things are His. If we compare a new car to God, the new car is nothing. If we compare unlimited wealth to God, unlimited wealth is nothing. When we are worried and anxious about finances and the material things of earth, we must come to Christ on the Cross and we will see that finances and material things are nothing. We cannot hide ourselves within a material thing and find the peace of God. However, even when material things have passed away, we can give ourselves in His love and mercy to Christ and truly find peace and joy.
