About giving our lives 1 John 3:16 This is how we know what love is: Jesus Christ laid down his life for us. And we ought to lay down our lives for our brothers. 17 If anyone has material possessions and sees his brother in need but has no pity on him, how can the love of God be in him? (NIV) Jesus loved us so much He laid down His life for us. We may not want to hear it, or
take in His truth, but He does want us to do the same for others. However, we cannot truly
lay down our lives for others unless we have surrendered and laid down our life before Him
on the Cross. We must learn that we must surrender our all for Him. We must learn we must
give up our life and make the supreme sacrifice for Him. We must be willing to lose our
life for Him. For if we do not lose our life for Him, we will not have a life. It is the
very call of sacrifice for others, the idea of sacrificing our life to save another, that
so baffles and puzzles those who do not know Christ. Modern history is replete with
examples of person's willing to die to kill others. It is the distinctly Christian
ideology that calls us to give up our lives to save others. Until we can give our all,
until we can give our life to Christ, we are but pretenders. As we go about each day, we
must remember our footsteps, our breathing, our every thought and motion is never to be
about us
it is to be about Him. For when we have given our all, we are no longer a
real part of this real world, for we are waiting. When we have surrendered our all for
Christ, we are merely waiting on the day when we shall see Him face to face and He tells
us of our job well done. |
