Previous Daily Devotional About giving thanks for our gifts… Matthew 7:11 If you, then, though you are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give good gifts to those who ask him! (NIV) What God gives us should always be regarded as a gift…a gift for which we should be eternally grateful. We should give thanks to God every hour for His gifts and we should never take any gift He gives us for granted. The supreme gift from our supreme being is life itself, but we sometimes forget about our life being from God and we take our life for granted. In regard to our other gifts from God, it is also easy to take our "God-given" gifts for granted. It is easy to take for granted what we have perhaps had all our life. It is easy to take for granted what comes easy and natural to us. You have seen and known people who had incredible talent and gifts in a certain part of their life, but who thought nothing of what they were given. We are to know ourselves inside and out. In knowing ourselves, we are to fully know and fully understand what God has given us. Whatever it is God gives us, we are to use His gifts to us for His glory on earth. Whatever gift you have been given by God, you are to bless the lives of others rather than be a curse upon others. You are to use your gifts from God to make the lives of others more pleasant and you are to show others how much God loves them. Everyone can bless the lives of those around them. A person with the ability to drive a semi can be courteous in how they drive and a shining example of God in action when they meet people on the road. A computer programmer who may meet few people can still display the power of God by only doing what is godly, right, and devout in all they do. For it is not just ministers and church workers who are to use their gifts from God and for God…it is everyone because everyone is to lift up God every hour of every day by using and giving thanks for His gifts. |
