(NIV) God does not want us to be powerless people who always give in or cave in. When temptation comes, we need power to resist and be righteous. God wants us to be people of power but only if we are people exercising power to bring glory to Him. There are many kinds of power in the world. However, the only power that will fully help us is God's power of love. When we seek God's power of love, we can be righteous and godly before Him. When we seek God's power of love there will be within us a feeling we are self-sufficient in humility. Most problems in our life are caused by our seeking the wrong kind of power. We can seek power to build ourselves up for selfish reasons. Conversely, we can seek power to build ourselves up for unselfish reasons. The world does not easily understand how we could build ourselves up by submitting ourselves to God's power. However, when we submit ourselves to God's power of love, we find love, peace, happiness, and joy in our submissive heart.
