Previous Daily Devotional About God as our shepherd Isaiah 40:11 He tends his flock like a shepherd: He gathers the lambs in his arms and carries them close to his heart; he gently leads those that have young. Often when we think of God, we think of a God of power. In the Old Testament where we see God manifesting His power in strong and dramatic ways, our thoughts about God naturally flow to a God of the mighty deeds He performed in the book of Exodus. However, we also see in the Old Testament our God as our Shepherd. In this verse, we see Him as carrying each of us close to His heart and leading both the mature sheep and the lambs. God will lead us if we are willing to be led. He will touch our lives if we are willing to be touched. He will speak to us if we are willing to listen. He will give us eternal life if we are willing to accept it. Our God is a God of love. He could easily destroy us but instead has chosen to love us and hold us close to Himself. Yet, are we willing to stay where He wants us to be? |
