Previous Daily Devotional About God being bigger than pain… Ephesians 3:8 Although I am less than the least of all God's people, this grace was given me: to preach to the Gentiles the unsearchable riches of Christ, (NIV) Nothing is bigger in your life than the love of God. Nothing in your reality is bigger than the love of God. You come to know nothing is bigger than the love of God if you are willing to admit God is bigger than you are. No pain is bigger than God and every pain can be pushed over into God's arms. If giving your pain to God does not give you comfort and peace, it is because your view of God is not big enough. Giving your pain to God may not end your pain, but giving your pain to God results in your being placed in His arms and results in your feeling His comforting love. Most importantly, pushing our pain over to God often does not work because we do not always know how to push our pain over to God by surrendering. We do not readily know how to abandon our earthly grip on life and how to trust God fully and completely. Keep this fully in mind. God is pulling upward upon your life. Satan is pulling downward. God is light shining within you. Satan is darkness coming at you from below you. Pain is a downward force and dominates us in so many ways we can become convinced we have no power over the pain. In the same way, darkness in every form seems to dominate us in so many ways we think we have no power over the darkness. When darkness has its way with us we are victimized. Then we easily learn to play the victim because we ARE the victims. Then we become convinced we have no way out of being the victim. However, when we have the power of Christ or the power of the Holy Spirit in our hearts, we become the victors. The victory over our darkness in life is possible because we pushed the darkness over into the light and love of God. As an example, if you have an open container full of darkness because you are in a dark room, and you suddenly expose that open container to light, the darkness disappears. In the same way, we unknowingly carry darkness in our heart. When we stand in the light of Christ's love, His glory and His sacrifice for us upon the cross defeats every darkness. The pain and suffering of our life cannot stand up to the love of Christ. Christ did, Christ can, and Christ will do miracles in our life because the pain of darkness is made nothing by His power of love and light. |
