About God being bigger than you…
Psalm 147: 2 The LORD builds up Jerusalem; he gathers the exiles of Israel. 3
He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds. 4 He determines the number
of the stars and calls them each by name. 5 Great is our Lord and mighty in
power; his understanding has no limit. (NIV)
God is bigger than you are. When you need a resource, when you need a power,
when you need an overwhelming presence in your life…God is bigger than you
are. Some people might find that a bigger being, like God, to be intimidating.
Some people might find a bigger being, especially a moral being, a being who
wants only righteousness, to be morally intimidating. However, the bigness of
God can be awesome if we will let go of our selfish smallness. Our selfish
smallness keeps us from seeing the big picture. Our selfish smallness keeps us
from seeing our bigger God. In our selfish smallness, we all want power, but to
get power by being humble and small in the eyes of God is not what most people
want. Most people want the power of God but only on their own terms. The power
of God is bigger than our selfish power. The power of God's love is bigger than
any love you can feel, bigger than any love you can give away, and even bigger
than any love you can experience. To have the power of God you must give up
selfish smallness. When you give up selfish smallness, you receive God's
unselfish infinite love in return.
