Previous Daily Devotional About when God says "No" in love Isaiah 45:9 "Woe to him who quarrels with his Maker, to him who is but a potsherd among the potsherds on the ground. Does the clay say to the potter, `What are you making?' (NIV) We ask God to give us what we think we want and need. Sometimes, God says "No." However, in His answer there is love. God does not always do what we want because He knows better what we need than we do. We may pray every day for some kind of answer. When we go to the heart of God, He sometimes says we cannot have what we want or need. When God says "No," it is not a harsh answer. It is not a harsh kind of answer because He reveals himself to us in love. The Lord may not ever be willing to give you the answer you want because of factors you cannot know about until you die. When we receive the Lord's "No" answer, we must learn to trust Him, to invest our whole heart in Him, and to be patient while we do His will each day. It is not easy receiving a negative answer from God for we have so many expectations about Him. However, when we trust Him, His negative answer to us may hurt us when we receive the answer, but when we live with His will there is a degree of peace involved in living with what the Lord wants for us. For the Lord does want things for you and from you. The Lord, in all His majestic love, does want results from you and from your life. |
