About God smiling upon us…

1 Peter 5:5 Young men, in the same way be submissive to those who are older. All of you, clothe yourselves with humility toward one another, because, “God opposes the proud but gives grace to the humble.” (NIV)

Exodus 34:29 When Moses came down from Mount Sinai with the two tablets of the testimony in his hands, he was not aware that his face was radiant because he had spoken with the Lord. (NIV)

When we are willing to put the needs of others before our own needs, then God will smile upon us and He will give us blessings. The radiance of God shows up in our life when God smiles upon us. Moses had no choice over the radiance from his face when He came down from the top of Mt. Sinai . The radiance was something over which Moses had no control. The radiance from our own life will show when we clothe ourselves with humility. In our world today, we underestimate the power of humility and in our selfishness we do not know much about being humble. However, as we learn and practice true and honest humility, along with modesty, meekness, and submissiveness, we are transformed into the person Christ calls us to be. True and honest humility is a humility we take upon ourselves because we seek to fully banish our vanity, pride, and ego. True and honest humility is a humility born out of our willingness to see others and attend to their need. True and honest humility is humility that comes to us because we are willing to stoop down to help others. True and honest humility is the humility we have not because we think we are inferior or less than others, but because we see the pain, hurt, and suffering of others…and we are willing to do something about their plight.
