Previous Daily Devotional About God's forgiveness beyond reason… Luke 11:4 "'Forgive us our sins, for we also forgive everyone who sins against us. And lead us not into temptation.' " (NIV) In our own lives, we have all said or done things our human reason might tell us is unforgivable. What our faulty human reason does not often tell us is we can be forgiven. In your own life, you can be forgiven for committing the vilest of sins. Remarkably, God is willing and capable of forgiving you even when you cannot forgive yourself. In addition, God is willing and capable of forgiving you even when no other human being on earth is capable of forgiving you. Your human reason may tell you that you are unforgivable. Your human reason may tell you that you are unforgivable and you must stand outside the mainstream of the human family, stand outside the human mainstream of all the people you know, or stand outside the mainstream of your friends and acquaintances. However, as is often the case, your human reason is wrong. Your human reason is wrong about your being unforgivable because if you want, you can be forgiven in an instant. Your human reason is wrong about your being out of the reach of God's forgiveness, for God has already taken your heart into His hands and He has embraced you and He has already told you that you are loved, you are His, and you are forgiven if you would just accept Him and love Him as He has loved you. With God, you have forgiveness beyond reason. |
