God's insulation for your physical pain… Romans 15:4 For everything that was
written in the past was written to teach us, so that through endurance and the
encouragement of the Scriptures we might have hope. (NIV) Romans 15:4 For whatsoever things were
written aforetime were written for our learning, that we through patience and
comfort of the scriptures might have hope. (KJV) When
you are in physical pain, you must refuse to let the physical pain do anything
to you. You must refuse to lose contact with God. With your will, although your
pain may be intense, refuse to knuckle under to the pain. In your mind, think of
God the Father, Jesus Christ the Son, the Holy Spirit, Christ's earthly father
Joseph, and the Virgin Mary standing all around you. In spite of your pain,
visualize this group standing around you. Now, as you are surrounded in love,
imagine all of them placing their hands upon you, infusing you with their
healing power. Imagine they are all giving you the power to push past your pain. To
deal with your physical pain, you must have a "refuse to lose"
tough-mindedness so when the pain tries to make you lose contact with God and
with others, you refuse to lose contact with Him. To deal with your physical
pain, you must do everything to push past the barrier pain places between you
and God. The physical pain may still be with you, but the pain will be a
non-entity when it comes to hurting your heart, hurting your feelings, hurting
your relationships, and as a demoralizing factor when you push past the pain. Once
you have pushed past the pain… Now
you must "get to God". Although
we are going to talk about "getting to God", spiritually speaking, we
do not "get to God." In every possible way, in our walk with God, we
are to let God come into our heart, mind, and soul rather than forcing ourselves
upon Him. However, if we have to deal with physical pain, we will, just for the
sake of our discussion, think about "getting to God". Physical pain is a separator. We must push past that separator and once we have pushed past that separator we can then make full spiritual contact with God the Father, Jesus Christ the Son, the Holy Spirit, Christ's earthly father Joseph, and the Virgin Mary, as we place God's insulation between us and our pain. God's insulation is His infinite love. God's insulation is His hope for endless tomorrows. God's insulation is His promise of eternal life in Christ Jesus.
